Full-stack development is a very broad area that encompasses both the front-end as well as the back-end programming. A full stack developer should be able to handle all types of activities, right from the generation of the user interface up to the management of the servers and integration into the database. It speaks of its basic characteristics and tools and the importance it holds in the current applications of the internet.

This means that a person is tasked to create a web application fully. The work he or she should cover includes both the front-end and back-end developments. This would mean knowing several programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
Hence, popularly called the "jack-of-all-trades" or those who would have the knowledge and skills required for the whole development lifecycle of a project-from planning, through implementation, into deployment, to eventual maintenance.
