The web is merely an interlinked pages and multimedia content system accessible over the internet. Therefore, sites become the only type of media accessible to people to access this information. Thus, understanding how sites work involves getting familiar with the function of many various components contributing to the web ecosystem functioning.

1. Function of Websites

Function of Websites

A website is a set of files saved on a server and sent to the client via the internet. The file is essentially composed of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and contains the structure, design, and behavior of the website. Websites can be very simple static pages or highly complex dynamic sites, such as e-commerce shops or social networks.

2. Client-Server Model

How websites work relies on the client-server model.

Client: The user's computer or smartphone that has an active web browser, for example Chrome or Firefox.

Server: Remote server containing website files, then sending them to the client's demand.
